"Open Air Summer Cinema" Movie Screenings End

"Open Air Summer Cinema-Turkish Cinema Nights" film screening event, which was traditionally organized by Nicosia Yunus Emre Institute and held for the fourth time this year, has ended.

The open-air cinema culture, which has an important place in the Turkish Cypriot culture, has emerged again with this activity of the Institute. The Turkish Cypriots, who had the opportunity to watch Yeşilçam films and current films of Turkish cinema, which had an important place in the history of Turkish cinema with the event that offered alternative and fun time on hot summer evenings, experienced this nostalgic night every Wednesday throughout July.

The Institute made its first film screening with the film Selvi Boylum Al Yazmalım, which is one of the legendary productions of Yeşilçam starring Türkan Şoray and Kadir İnanır on July 1. On the 8th of July, the film Kırımlı, starring Murat Yıldırım, was shown. It shows the human drama and suffering of Tatar Turks taken hostage in German prison camps during World War II. As part of the event, the Ankara Letter Farewell movie was shown on Thursday, July 16, about the series of events that led Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu, who was executed after the September 12 coup. On Wednesday, July 22, the screening activities of the drama type Ahlat Tree, which is about the story of a young man who tried to collect the money to print the book written by the famous director Nuri Bilge Ceylan but returned to his home town, was completed.

The Institute made its open-air cinema film screenings in the inner courtyard of its historical building in Nicosia Old Walled City. Participants in the movie screenings, which also served popcorn and cold drinks, had a nostalgic journey to the past.
